Looking for a home-based Internet marketing business?  If so, by now you have probably come across more than a few promoting their business opportunities using an approach I call “Bling-Marketing”. 

Bling-Marketers are those guys you see in pictures on their sales-pages leaning against Lamborghinis and Porches with their arms folded and smug looks their faces as if they’re daring you to doubt that they’re hauling in more cash per day than most do months!

Bling-Marketers can also be found in YouTube videos with screen-shots of their banking accounts showing long columns of deposits totaling $20,000 to $30,000 dollars or more.  Of course, “they’re not showing you this to brag”, they say, “They’re just showing you this as ‘evidence’ that their home-based Internet marketing business works”.  Uh-huh.

Clearly it is certainly working for them.  That is no surprise.  These days, what would be more surprising is finding someone that wasn’t aware that home-based Internet marketing businesses are not only extremely profitable, but are also currently thriving—even more so now—during this economic recession.

The Business is Only Half of the Equation

Yes, Internet marketing businesses are booming, and there are many to choose from—some better than others—but what most business opportunity seekers fail to realize is that choosing the right business is only half of the equation.  

Why is it that so many fail in fantastic online businesses with amazing products or services and compensation systems while others are experiencing incredible success working home-based Internet marketing businesses with inferior products and compensation plans?

What’s the Difference that Makes All the Difference?

What is this seemingly “magical” difference that will most likely determine whether you experience unimaginable financial rewards in your online endeavors, mediocre results . . . or dismal failure?  Your Mentor (sometimes referred to as a “sponsor” or “enroller”) that you get involved with.

While it is true that most business opportunity seekers don’t spend enough time researching their options when looking at home-based Internet marketing businesses, it is even much more rare for them to take the time to research those people that they will be dependent upon for guidance, training, and support as they’re learning their new business.

Which Brings Us Back To My Blog Headline

Three (3) Reasons Why you should never do business with Bling-Marketers!

1)      Does Bling-Marketing work? Yes (for some).  But frankly, this approach is simply tacky and Bling-Marketers give the online business-opportunity industry the “Scam-Huckster” reputation it unfortunately often deserves.  This is extremely frustrating for those that are attempting to bring legitimacy to the home-based Internet marketing business industry.

2)      In spite of the fine-print disclaimers at the bottom of their sales pages, the Bling-Marketer’s tactics violate numerous Truth in Advertising regulations and are inviting the wrath of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission which is already making efforts to impose draconian changes to the business opportunity market (and the advertising industry altogether).

3)      In an industry that may often seem “everyone for himself!” the Bling-Marketer is the “Poster Child”. Because those that get involved with Bling-Marketers are new to online marketing, they never stop to consider that this marketing approach IS NOT duplicate-able.  Soon he or she will come face-to-face with the cold reality that because they are new and have no “success-story” to show yet (no Lamborghini to lean against; no columns of big deposits in their bank accounts to flash!), not only can he not duplicate their mentor—but their mentor is now the “Big-Dawg” competitor that they have the near-impossible task of competing against . . . that is, if they attempt to market on the same “playing field”. 

If home-based Internet marketing business seekers want to succeed online, they’ll have to learn to compete in an entirely different marketing “arena” than the Bling-Marketer using more sophisticated strategies. It is highly unlikely that they will learn these strategies if they have a Bling-Marketer as a “mentor”.  Frankly, the Bling-Marketer’s approach should been taken at face-value as a true indication that he really doesn’t give a damn about the people he enrolls in his business.  

Bling-Marketers: Leave a Path of Destruction in Their Wake . . . 

The reality is it extremely common for Bling-Marketers to leave a string of bruised, bloodied and bitter “orphans” in their wake. Left to their own devices, these people fail miserably and usually feel that they got scammed, which is unfortunate because if they had had the right mentor to show them the way they could have experienced the success they were hoping for.  They deserved much better than the false promises the Bling-Marketer’s tactics gave them.

In Conclusion . . .

The home-based Internet marketing business industry is booming and is a fantastic opportunity to create wealth for those that are prepared to “roll of their sleeves” and get to work learning the skills they’ll need to be successful.  Just remember to take the time to research your potential new “mentor” as much as you do the business opportunity you are looking to join.

Did the Truth cost Carrie Prejean the Crown?

Miss America hopeful Carrie Prejean believes her answer to the gay marriage question cost her the Miss USA crown.  What would you do in her situation, knowing that your view would be unpopular in that particular setting?  I’m sure most of us feel that we would stick with our principles and stay true to our beliefs and “let the chips fall where they may”! But . . . do we always live up to this high ideal?  And, is it always that black-and-white?

What Did You Do To Your Hair???

If my wife comes home with a new hair color she is excited about . . . but I’m not thrilled with, do I say, “What in hell have you done to your hair!” LOL!!!

Frankly, my feelings are, if it makes her feel more beautiful, and her friends and sister think it looks Hot, than who am I—just some goofy guy—to put my 2 cents worth in.  I simply enjoy seeing her feeling exited about her new “do”.

Okay, I’m sure you’re wondering what on earth this could have to do with MyInternetBusiness or Internet Marketing in general!

Simply this: As Internet Entrepreneurs, we all make a living selling products and/or services.  And the reality is, the competition on the Internet is fierce!  So how do you stand out in the crowd?  Especially when attention spans are short and growing shorter?  Well, one way is to out do the other guy’s (or gal’s) hype.

In truth, many (maybe most) people that turn to the Internet looking for a business are looking for a “magic-pill” cure-all to their financial woes.  They want an instant fix! To “get rich quick!”

Simply Offering a Hamburger to the Starving?

Savvy marketers simply recognize these people’s desperation and take advantage of it by telling them what they want to hear.  Of course, the obvious problem with that is promising someone that they can “get rich overnight” might get someone excited enough to pull out their credit card . . . but it doesn’t square with reality.

MyInternetBusiness is Opening the Doors to Financial Success!

The MyInternetBusiness business opportunity is opening the doors to financial freedom for many people who are ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and get to work.  There is absolutely no doubt that those that experience success feel that they price they pay in hard work and their initial investment and expenses is quite small in comparison to the reward they’re experiencing.  The freedom life-style successful Internet professionals enjoy can’t be beat but by famous actors, athletes and writers.

The Truth can be so . . . Inconvenient

But the cold, hard reality is, few people would get involved if we sat around discussing the hard work we put in when we first got started!  That being said, I personally don’t feel that we have to ignore that fact that there is work involved, either.  And I absolutely feel that we should not be writing headlines to are sales-letters that are complete crap! (excuse my “French”)  Unlike Carrie Prejean, on the Internet it seems some people will say ANYTHING to win the “Crown”.

Bottom Line: MyInternetBusiness is hot!  It is a business model that is allowing people who have failed at nearly everything else (MLM’s, Direct Sales, traditional businesses, etc.), to finally experience the success that they’ve always dreamed about.

BUT . . .

I want to make this clear: This is not a do-no-work-and-get-rich-quick scheme!  

BUT . . .

The rewards are definitely worth it!

Why would a former NFL quarterback coach at a Local Highschool? And how does MyInternetBusiness fit in?

It has recently been reported* the former NFL quarterback Jake Plummer will be coaching the quarterbacks at a local highschool in an Idaho resort town where he lives.  Now I can’t be sure about this, but I’m guessing that Jake isn’t doing this for the money. What do you think?  

Why would he do it then?  I don’t know Jake but I’d imagine that he might be doing it for these reasons:

• He’s passionate about football and still wants to be involved with it.  
• He was given amazing opportunities in his life and he wants to “pay it forward”.
• It is fun.  
• He cares about kids and wants to show them how to be excellent and what it takes to succeed at a high level. 

You can make your own list; but you get the point.

The $64.000 Dollar Question is . . .

What are you passionate about? And if you didn’t have to spend 40+ hours a week working at a job; and if you had a large amount of time as well as plenty of extra money as resources to “throw” at that Passion—what could you get done?  What kind of impact could you have?  Who’s lives could you bless?  What kind of difference could you make to the word?  How good could you get at your passion?  How much fun could you have?

“Nothing Matters; soon I’ll be Dead.”

There was a time in my life that the only thing that kept me going from day to day was the comforting thought that nothing I did really mattered because I was finally getting up the nerve to blow my brains out.  I’m not joking about this!

Before I got to this miserable point I was a perfectly happy, totally-broke “starving” musician living in a roach-infested (the place was so old it was held together by cockroaches joining hands!) studio apartment the size of my walk-in-closet . . . with two other musicians.  At night we had to move our gear - guitars, amps, drums, etc. (yeah one of my roommates was a drummer!) off of the beds so we could sleep; then in the morning we stack everything back onto our beds so we could (sort of) move around in the room.

I drove an oxidized yellow Ford Fairmont that looked like a card-board box with wheels and my girlfriend was embarrassed to ride in it.  I never even gave it a second thought.  I put my money into guitars & equipment–that’s what i was Passionate about. (I’ll get back to this in a minute.)

Who in Hell is Susan Boyle?

Tonight on Facebook (I have this most amazing, inspirational group of FB “friends” . . . I don’t know how I managed it! Come join us, my profile link is on the sidebar==> ) someone posted this incredible video link of a woman named Susan Boyle singing on the UK TV show, Britains Got Talent.  

I have to confess that I behaved badly.  When I first saw this woman–just like everybody else–I was rolling my eyes . . . I was embarrassed for her. “Could you imagine going on national television looking like that!” And things only went down hill from there once she started speaking!

Everyone was laughing at her!

As one of the judges said, “Everyone was laughing at her–but no one is laughing now!”  Don’t worry, I’m including a link so you can watch it. It is truly one of the most amazing things I’ve witnessed in my life . . . it was almost a parody of a “Cinderella story!” (Unfortunately they’ve disabled the embed code or I’d post it in this blog)

What does Susan Boyle’s singing have to do with me wanting to blow my brains out? Whoa, I’ve really painted myself into a corner . . . let me see if I can make some sense of this. LOL!!!

Susan Boyle was 47 years old when she decided to “go for it” and sing on a national television show–with that mean and nasty Simon whats-his-name sitting-in-wait to judge her–no less.  

Hoping for her “big break”.  

She said she had been singing since she was 12 and that her dream was to be a “professional singer”.  But I have to ask, “What happened during the past 35 years of Susan’s life that a woman of her ability couldn’t live that dream?” Has she been working in a office somewhere often wishing she could blow her brains out?

The Downward-Slide to “Success”

You see, that’s what happened to me.  I got married, and in no time the life of a perfectly-happy-starving-musician wasn’t good enough.  I put away my guitar and stepped onto the “corporate treadmill”.  Suddenly I needed a big house, a “beemer” (BMW), and lots of “toys”.  I cut my hair and took up golf.  I began to care what people thought of me! (gasp!)

I HATED the work I was doing to get that stuff!  I wanted to blow my brains out . . . but I was on the “treadmill” and couldn’t get off!

The Law of Attraction in Action!

It took me almost 20 years to undo the mess I had created of my life!  But once I became extremely clear about what I truly wanted –though I had NO idea how I was going to get that done–suddenly the pieces started to fall into place at a truly frightening rate!  I’m not being trite here, the Universe will start to “clean house” in a way that will be more than just a little unsettling! The only thing that will keep you sane is trusting in something other than your own ability to “control” your life.  (Face it: Being “in control” of your life is a mere illusion that we humans love to embrace!)

In less than 2 years so much happened that I don’t even recognize my old life any more!

TMI (Too Much Information!)

But enough about me . . . I’ve embarrassed myself enough already! LOL!!!!

What I’m really trying to say here is . . . are you still singing to your cats?  Susan Boyle, a world-class talent, was sitting at home nights singing to her cats!

What gift or talent or passion do you have that remains hidden because it doesn’t “make sense”; it isn’t practical.  Maybe there is that voice in your head . . . your own, or maybe that of a parent that tells you to stop dreaming and get “real”.

One of the first steps to creating a happy life is to STOP BELIEVING THAT LITTLE VOICE IN YOUR HEAD!

Adults have all of the answers.  

I tried adulthood for years and decided it wasn’t working out so I gave it up.  Being an “adult” sucks!  There is so much to live up to!  I decided to return to being a kid.

Kids ask questions and wonder about stuff–they have imaginations and aren’t afraid to use them. Kids believe that they’ll be famous rock stars and zillionaires! 

Adults leave everything they love and are passionate about behind so they can climb onto the “corporate treadmill” for a “steady” paycheck.

Okay, that’s a really bizarre headline that will need some explanation . . . and when I come up with one, I’ll let you know.  :)

I’ve decided that I’m going to go back and “update” my “Traps & Pitfalls to Avoid When Looking for a Business or Money-Making Opportunity on the Internet” report.  I think in my section about “Internet Gurus”, that I may have been way too soft on them.

Do You Stand a Chance?

To be blunt, if you’re looking to become a successful Internet Entrepreneur, you’ve got a BIG target on your back.  Why?  Because you’re highly motivated to get the education and tools you need to begin to make money on the Internet.  (And by “highly motivated”, in a lot of cases—maybe even most cases—I mean desperate! LOL!!)

THEY . . . Smell Your Desperation Like Vampires Smell Blood

Who are “They”?  The so-called Internet Gurus.   (If you need a list of names go here)  Why are they so dangerous?  Here’s why: when you think of these people—pick a name of your choice— you may be temped to think of the proverbial “solitary Internet marketer sitting in front of his/her lone computer in his/her underwear.” (Okay, as I write this I’m not currently sitting in my underwear . . . but I could be! LOL!!!)  NOTHING could be further from the truth!

The Highly-Fine-Tuned-Profit-Machines

They’re not playing games. Their not your friend. They are NOT sitting home alone in their boxers at their computer.  In fact, Internet Gurus are not an actual “person” as much as they are a TEAM of professionals with one goal in mind—to extract as much cash from your wallet as they can.  Oh, sure, there is the actual “guru” Mike Fil-whatever, but he has a crew of pros that are at the top of their game working with him, and believe me they know their stuff.  The know every emotional “hot-button” you likely have for buying . . . and they’re going to push them all.  Sure you’ll pass on this product or that program . . . but if you’re on their 100,000+ names mailing list, sooner or later you’ll succumb to the urge to buy! LOL!!!

It Simply Isn’t Enough

Bottom line: Guru products and services are never the “magic-bullet” they claim to be in their amazing sales letter copy.  Frankly, to be successful on the Internet, you’re going to need much more than they’re willing to give you! especially for $39 or $59, $199 or even for a $97 a month membership program.

Bottom Line: Why Should They?

The way these Guru’s work, they are literally hauling in thousands of paying customers!  It is simply impossible for them to give each and every one of these customers the support they really need to experience true, lasting success.  And . . . these gurus are making so much money off of their massive product launches that they really couldn’t care less about you as an individual. (Somehow I don’t think that’s “Breaking News” to you.)  You are simply part of the statistics!  A certain percent of customers will return their products and/or cancel their memberships and they’ve taken that all into account.  As an individual, who in hell knows what you’re going to do;  but as part of a large group, you’re highly predictable!

KISS (Keep it SO Simple!)

MyInternetBusiness is a simple system that works.  Unfortunately, we’re all human and as humans, we tend to make simple things complicated when they don’t have to be.

One of the Biggest Culprits!

Email.  More specifically, email from Internet “gurus” (and wanna-be gurus).  The reality is, if you’ve been around the Internet attempting to make money for any length of time, you’re probably facing a mountain of emails every day.  It get’s crazy.

I’m a perpetual student.  I love to learn and I’m always looking for new ideas to grow and improve my business and improve my own expertise and knowledge about marketing on the Internet.

Are you Guilty of this?

The Hazard of this, is I can hardly resist reading emails from anyone that looks like they might have something I could use . . . which, frankly, seems like everybody! LOL!!

But I just don’t have time to read all of these emails and act on them (if I feel like I need to), so I create files for each of my favorite “gurus”, etc. and put that email in there “for later”. Yeah, right! Naturally I never have time to get back to them . . . and soon they’re forgotten (and taking up space on my hard-drive).

Now I have a ridiculously long list of files that I can hardly keep track of.

Bottom Line:

I’ve finally started “opting out” of even my favorite gurus because even if their information or products are great—which they often are—what good are they sitting around un-viewed by me.

My guess is, you probably have a business “game-plan” that you’re working on.  Frankly, a flood of email offers & info. will probably only serve to side-track you and lose focus on it.  Hey, we’re all subject to the “grass-is-greener-over-the-fence” syndrome at times, and as you’re working hard in your business it may be tempting to think (especially as you’re reading their extremely well-written sales copy!) somebody else has a “magical-pill” business that isn’t going to require as much work.

This is how people NEVER be successful online: Always chasing the next big thing!

Stay focused.  Keep working your business fundamentals.  Focus on building your contact list.

What if Ray Kroc’s business model was simply to get paid a flat fee or a consulting fee to “coach” hamburger-stand investors on how to build a successful hamburger restaurant?  Would McDonald’s be what is it today—if it even existed at all?  Not likely.

Let’s look at this a little deeper.  If Ray had worked off of a flat fee, what motivation would he have had to give these hamburger stand entrepreneurs his best effort once their checks cleared his bank account?  I’m sure Ray was a great guy and that he wanted the best for his clients, but to continue to work with the restaurant owners month-after-month, year-after-year long after that initial fee had been spent would not have been in the cards.

The genius of Kroc’s business-model was it contained an inherent win-win factor for both the founder and for what we all know today as the franchisees: Ray continued to support the restaurant owners perpetually, because the more successful they were . . . the more money Ray made!  McDonald’s restaurant owners have no problem paying the McDonald’s Corporation their cut (not that they even have a choice in the matter ) because of the ongoing value provided to each individual store.  A McDonald’s in B.F.E., Idaho is not much . . . but as a part of the McDonald’s collective, it is a Mighty Big-Dawg!

So Tranque, what in the Hell does Ray Kroc and McDonald’s have to do with MyInternetBusiness?  Okay, nothing . . . LOL!!! But I just want to draw this comparison: The MyInternetBusiness.com business model contains a similar win-win factor.  When you’re working with me, I’m highly motivated to help you succeed because I have a financially vested interest in your success—the more money YOU make; the more money I can make.  Like Ray Kroc and McDonald’s corporation, I’ll be in your corner for the long-haul!  Every new technique or tool I learn and use for to grow my business and make it more profitable will also be passed on to you.  I’ll be there for you until you feel like you don’t need me any more.  But by then, we’ll likely be very good friends and will being staying in touch just to bounce ideas off of each other as friends and fellow Professional Internet Marketers.

$100,000 of Debt for a $60,000 Per Year Job???

[Note: This post is a continuation of yesterday's post; so it will make more sense if you read it first.]

My oldest sister was a hairstylist (cosmetologist?) for over 20 years before she decided to become a Psychologist.  (After all, she had been dishing out psychological evaluations for years in the salon, so why not! )  Back to school she went . . . and went . . . and went (while working and raising kids as a single mom!)  Finally 10+ years later she can write that impressive “Dr.” in front of her name!  But here’s the thing . . . especially when you throw in the incurred debt of school loans, etc. she actually made more money as a hot-shot hairstylist!

Where am I going with this and what does it have to do with Internet Marketing or making money online?

I find it interesting that people will turn to the Internet to start a business and they’ll fork out anywhere form $39.95 to three grand and expect to retire in the next few months. (And why not?  They’re committed to working an hour or so every few days . . . or so.)  ;)

Uh uh.  It doesn’t work that way out there in the “real” world offline, why should it work that way when you’re working on the Internet?  Okay, part of the problem is that online businesses are typically marketed with the slant that there is apparently no work involved and you can “get rich virtually overnight!” Blah blah blah.

The reality is, a properly structured Internet business such as MyInternetBusiness can out-perform just about anything out there offline, and you can achieve some rapid results (I experienced that myself!), but please let your common sense guide you: It took a lot of work!

But here’s the thing: Let’s say you bought into a Top-Tier Business Program like MyInternetBusiness. And because you were committed to learning everything and anything you could about business on the Internet, you—sometimes very stupidly :/ —purchased just about anything and everything that a so-called Internet “Guru” threw your way.  If you worked real hard at it, you could rack up ten to twenty thousand dollar bill (or so).  Ouch! That could be painful.

But let’s take a step back and do some comparisons.

If you were actually learning from and implementing all those courses, etc. that you bought, after a year you would have to be getting fairly knowledgeable about Internet Marketing, wouldn’t you think?  Maybe not an expert, but certainly you would have developed some expertise on the subject.  So on the down-side you’ve racked up—let’s say on the very high side—$20K in debt investing in your education as well as necessary business tools. (I must emphasise that this would be a worst-case scenario where you bought just about everything you could that you thought would help you in your business!) On the upside, you’ve become educated in Internet Marketing.

What’s the financial “up-side” of becoming a knowledgeable Internet Marketer?  You could expect to earn $250,000 on up to a multiple seven figure incomes!

Now let’s look at getting an advanced degree . . . like, let’s say . . . a psychology from a well-respected University. 

$100,000 in student loans; 10+ years out of your life: Result=a job.  A job that pays more than most jobs.  $60K-$80K (maybe more depending upon your market, focus, & how long you’ve been at it).  But in the end it is still a job where you have to trade hours for dollars. (And you have to spend your days listening to people’s tragic stories!!) [My sister spent part of here residency working in prisons with sex-offenders!]

Bottom Line: The rewards for taking the time to struggle through the initial learning stages to become a successfull Professional Internet Marketer, even if along the way you spent WAY TOO MUCH money for the tools and education than you needed to actually accomplish this, you’d still be in a much better financial situation than your psychologist friend.

So, if you’re looking to get into Internet marketing, or you’ve been at it awhile and are still struggling—but you are learning new skills and growing, just think of yourself as enrolling (or enrolled) in the most prestigious university in the World!  Why?  Because no other university out there will teach you specifically how to become as wealthy—not just in regards to income, but also in Time Freedom!

That’s why I like to call it The University of MyInternetBusiness.  Within our system and support training, you can learn your “mega-advanced-degree” in Internet Marketing and once you’ve “graduated” the World-Wide-Web becomes your “oyster” . . . or Internet Cash Machine.

So You Wanna Be a Professional Internet Marketer?

Well . . . actually no.  Most people don’t look to the Internet for a business because they see themselves becoming “Professional Internet Marketers”, they turn to the Internet because they’ve heard that you can make a lot of money online!

More specifically they typically turn to the Internet for these reasons:

• They’ve heard that you can make a lot of money—and make it “fast & easy”!
• They’re looking for a business with a low start up investment. In contrast to starting a “brick-and-mortar” business out there in the “real” world where even the least expensive franchise is typcally out of reach for the average Joe or Jane. You can get into business on the Internet for a fraction of that.
• They’re looking for a business that is “mobile” and can be ran from just about anywhere that they can plug their laptop into the World Wide Web. In a word, they’re looking for “Freedom”
• They’re looking for a business that they can work in the evening—or even at two o’clock in the morning if they want.  This way that can build their business without conflict with their “day job”.

If you intend to accomplish your aim in any of the above listed reasons for getting in business on the Internet, you are going to have to become . . . A Professional Internet Marketer!

Yes, contrary to what the headlines say on all those “get rich fast and easy . . . practically overnight” sales letters, working on the Internet is a business, and like all businesses it is going involve learning the required skill sets to be truly successful at it.

We’ve all heard the statistics that 95% of businesses fail within the first 5 years of being in business, right? It has become one of those cliché’s that have been around for so long, I doubt anyone knows where it came from. We’ve all just have accepted it as a fact.  But if it is true, (and I have no reason to doubt it, really) then I can say that it is probably because 95% of the people who started those businesses had NO CLUE what it really took to be successful in their chosen industries . . . or in business in general for that matter.

For an in-depth view of this, I’d recommend that you read the book, “The E-Myth” by Michael Gerber.
